KUCHING: In a heartwarming gesture, the Kelly Group, a local philanthropic organisation, extended its kindness by donating 50 cans of special milk powder valued at RM3,750 to a non-governmental organisation (NGO), Hope Place.
The donation was personally delivered by Kelly Lau, the leader of the Kelly Group, to Kelvin Wan, the founder of Hope Place, with the noble aim of aiding tube-feeding patients.
Within the walls of Hope Place, a sanctuary for those in despair, resides Sim Soon Ang, a 58-year-old soul battling oral cancer, unable to savour solid sustenance.
Isolated in a serene Buddhist temple, his solace lies in the steady provision of the special milk, a beacon of hope from Hope Place.
Iswandy Zainal, aged 45, fights a different battle with throat cancer, his voice silenced by the ravages of the disease.
Every four hours, he relies on
the special milk, a lifeline that sustains him through the long, quiet nights.
Each week in the quiet corridors of Hope Place, where compassion finds its voice, two to three cans of milk symbolise not just sustenance but a lifeline to a future filled with uncertainty.
Wan, a man with a big heart, shared that the Kelly Group had been a steadfast ally in its mission, supporting the underprivileged communities of Kuching. Its unwavering dedication is like a source of light in the darkness that often shrouds those in need.
“We are indebted to people like these, whose compassion and commitment illuminate the path of service to our community,” remarked Wan, his eyes reflecting the gratitude that words could not encapsulate.
In addition to the tube-feeding patients, Hope Place extends its arms to 46 individuals reliant on adult diapers due to disabilities or chronic ailments.
The call for assistance resounds, inviting all willing hearts to join in their noble cause, whether through monetary contributions or in-kind donations.
