SIBU: Sibu Water Board (SWB) will start the water pipe installation work along Salim Road starting tomorrow (Sept 13).
SWB, in a statement today, said that the project would upgrade the capacity of the Salim Water Treatment Plant from 150 MLD per day to 300 MLD per day to increase the water supply to the whole town.
“The project is expected to take six months and will involve various types of construction work including installation of 1,200mm diameter MSCL water pipes, road widening, tree felling, piling and construction of underground space,” it said.
SWB added that the route involved in the project was from the Farley Shopping Centre to the Bukit Lima roundabout.
“The project will be carried out in two sessions every day, from 8 am to 5 pm and from 7 pm to 5 am,” it said.
SBW urged road users to be careful when passing through the construction areas and to adhere to safety measures, including road warning signs and speed limits.
“The board will notify the public of any changes to the work arrangements,” it added.
For enquiries, the board can be contacted via its 24-hour hotline 013-8106311 or email at enquiries@swb.gov.my
