KAPIT: Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Law and Native Customs), Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat lauded that the Literacy Education for Adult Skills (LEADS) class and the Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) programmes served as platforms for rural communities to participate and benefit from it.
He pointed out that these government programmes focused on the development of human capital and provide opportunities to residents in the rural areas.
“To the participants of LEADS class, age is not a barrier to gaining knowledge. As long as we are able, we should continue learning and discovering new things.
“For the SKM participants, I hope that the knowledge you have gained will help you improve your skills, allowing you to become successful entrepreneurs in the future,” he said.
The Bukit Goram assemblyman made these remarks during his speech at the graduation ceremony for 59 LEADS and 11 SKM participants at the Dewan Suarah Kapit here last Thursday night (Sept 12).
During the programme, Jamit also allocated a total of RM10,000 from the Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant to the Kapit Division Social Welfare Department.
Meanwhile, in a separate programme with the Tan Sen Temple Association, Jamit praised the association’s initiative in rewarding incentives to its members’ children who excelled academically.
“This initiative aligns with the Sarawak Government’s efforts to promote higher education incentives and encourage students’ enthusiasm for learning and achieving academic excellence.
“I fully support the Tan Sen Temple Association’s initiative. These rewards not only ease the financial burden on parents but also motivate students to pursue their education,” he said during the programme held at Hock Leong Temple on Thursday.
In addition, he also presented MRP grant amounted to RM10,000 to the association.
