KUCHING: A captivating showcase of creativity and resilience is unfolding at the 3rd Gifted Art Exhibition by Special Needs Artists, currently on display at Plaza Merdeka.

Featuring the works of 13 talented individuals, the exhibition runs until Sept 17.

Ten of the participating artists are autistic, while others face a variety of challenges, including ADHD, epilepsy, and dyslexia.

“Their artworks not only showcase their individual creativity but also reflect their significant contributions to the community,” said Datuk Sim Kiang Chiok, Advisor of the Kuching Association of Talent Development and Welfare of Special Needs (KATSN).

Officiated by Minister for Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah on Friday, the exhibition is part of Plaza Merdeka’s Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations.

The festival features a diverse range of activities, including performances, exhibitions, and competitions centred on inclusion and community.

Visitors are encouraged to explore the exhibition and support the KATSN sales booth, where handmade goods crafted by participants and their families are available for purchase.

The event also highlights KATSN’s expanded programmes, which include basket making, baking, painting classes, bocce, family camps, and musical concerts designed to foster the talents of special children and provide their families with opportunities to learn new skills and generate extra income.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to experience the heart of Kuching’s community spirit and support the work of these talented individuals,” added Sim.
