SARIKEI: Education should always be a top priority to improve one’s quality of life, says Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii.

The Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability said the Chinese community in particular has always stressed on the importance of education, even during challenging times.

He reflected on his experience as an elected representative, who over the years had focused on efforts to uplift school facilities, as well as providing necessities such uniforms, bags, and shoes for underprivileged students.

“The main goal of my efforts is to ensure that children have a conducive environment for their learning process, nurturing a future generation with the potential to advance the nation,” he said.

He said this in his speech when officiates the Sarikei Lin Clan Association’s Dinner in conjunction with the Mooncake Festival and the Outstanding Students’ Incentives Handover Ceremony here, on Friday (Sept 13).

The Repok assemblyman also expressed his gratitude to members of the Sarikei Lin Clan Association as well the locals who have supported him in bringing about developments for the Sarikei and Meradong areas.

“We can see improvements especially in the development of schools, churches, temples, as well as other basic facilities,” he added.
