KUCHING: The Utama Toastmasters Club in Kuching and the Debaters Toastmasters Club in Bangkok, Thailand, are set to host a Joint Open House this upcoming Thursday (Sept 19).

Raymond Chin, the President of Utama Toastmasters Club, announced that the event, to be held on Zoom at 7:30 pm, will feature an exciting debate competition between the two clubs as the main attraction of the evening.

“With the motion, ‘This House Believes Size Does Not Matter,’ the competition will showcase the debating skills of two strong teams,” said Chin.

Representing Utama Toastmasters Club will be Datuk Dr John Lau, Haady Gordon, and Stanley Gona Chee Khiong.

“The members of the Debaters Toastmasters Club team are Paul O’Mahony, June Krairiksh, and Lee Buckley,” he added.

Chin emphasized the significance of debates at Toastmasters International in honing real-world skills for individuals to excel, not just survive, in today’s dynamic global landscape.

“By honing essential debating skills, individuals can significantly elevate their ability to communicate effectively, think critically, and present themselves professionally,” he explained.
