BINTULU: Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras) aims to become a component party of Barisan Nasional (BN).

Teras president Banyi Beriak said the party is currently undergoing a rebranding process to revive its role in the state.

“We have been inactive for a while, but we want to revive the party towards achieving our goal of becoming a BN component. We consider ourselves to be a BN-friendly party,” he said.

He made these remarks during the Teras Vision Dinner held at a restaurant here on Monday.

According to Banyi, the rebranding includes amending the party’s constitution, which is seen as a key step in modernising its structure and operations to face future political challenges.

“The amendment of the constitution is an important step to ensure that Teras remains relevant and competitive in the ever-changing political landscape.

“We believe that these changes will strengthen the party’s foundation and facilitate the implementation of our political strategies more effectively,” he added.

Banyi mentioned that Teras had around 50,000 members across Sarawak during its active period before the 2018 general election.

“We need to update our membership list and carry out a membership recruitment campaign,” he added.
