KUCHING: More than 2,800 people joined the Sarawak Aerobic Day 2024, a fitness event organised by JVY Event Management Company and Live Event Borneo.
The event, officiated by Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) Mayor Hilmy Othman, took place at the Sarawak State Library today (Sept 22).
According to event organiser Ryan Jee, the programme was a resounding success, attracting participants from various parts of the state.
“We started this programme in Miri, expanded it to Sibu, and brought it to Kuching,” Jee said in his speech.
“Today, we had a fantastic turnout with 2,800 participants from across Sarawak, including over 1,300 in Kuching alone.”
Jee expressed his gratitude to the 20 autistic participants from the Kuching Autistic Association and 40 deaf participants from the Sarawak Society for the Deaf who joined the aerobic programme.
“I urge everyone to support and welcome these communities,” he said.
Meanwhile, Hilmy, on behalf of Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Office (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Ahmad Ghazalee, highlighted the importance of humanitarian and community activities in the Sarawak state government’s agenda.
“JVY Event Management Company and Live Event Borneo have set a great example by collaborating with local NGOs to organise community activities like aerobics,” she said.
“I encourage other corporations to be more involved in such initiatives.”
Hasidah, in her speech, praised the organisers for their efforts to uphold the principle of inclusivity, which is deeply ingrained in Sarawakian society.
She encouraged the organisers to continue hosting similar events in the future, given the strong turnout and positive feedback from the community.
