SRI AMAN: A swift 12-hour operation by the Sarawak Immigration Department has resulted in the arrest of 21 foreigners in three districts – Sri Aman, Betong, and Lubok Antu.

Acting on public tip-offs and intelligence gathering, enforcement officers swooped down on six locations across shophouses, eateries, and boarding houses.

“We inspected a total of 37 individuals for valid documentation,” said the department in a statement.

“Twenty-one foreigners, comprising 18 women and three men, were subsequently detained for various immigration offences.”

The department said that these individuals were found to have overstayed their permits, lacked proper travel documents, or had no valid permission to remain in Malaysia.

Investigations are underway under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

The public is urged to continue assisting efforts by reporting any information regarding undocumented migrants through aduanpati_hq@imi.gov.my, via their website https://imi.spab.gov.my, or by calling the hotline at 03-88801347.
