Para Sukma: Three golds so far, Sarawak make clean sweep in men’s discus

KUCHING: Sarawak have so far secured three gold medals at the 21st Para Malaysia Games (SUKMA) today.

The first gold came from Richard Bada in the men’s discus throw F41 (1kg) event.

Competing at the Sarawak Stadium in Petra Jaya, Richard clinched the gold with a throw of 25.53 metres.

Sarawak made it a clean sweep in the event when it made it a 1-2-3 affair, with Teckman Mary taking the the silver with a throw of 20.57 metres, and Abdullah Syawal Majarol winning the bronze (17.55 metres).

The second gold was won by Donny Jaranding in the 100m men’s freestyle S13 para swimming event, clocking a time of 1:18.00s.

The third gold came from Andy Lau Sie Hui in the men’s 1,500m T12 event. He finished in a time of 5:19.82s.

At the time of the writing, Sarawak stand second in the medal tally, behind Sabah, which have secured four gold medals.

In addition, the host state have so far claimed three silver and four bronze medals.
