KUCHING: Medical officers at the Para Malaysia Games (SUKMA) are on high alert after a technical match official collapsed during the para-badminton event.
“Such incidents can occur frequently at various venues.
“However, we continue to stress the need for proper emergency preparations,” he told reporters after watching the matches at the Sarawak Badminton Association Hall, BDC today (Sept 23).
He highlighted the necessity for paramedics and medical teams to be adequately equipped to handle emergencies effectively.
“The professionals are present at the badminton event, ensuring everything runs smoothly.”
Adam reassured the public that there was no cause for alarm as the situation was under control and the games proceeded normally.
“Throughout the Games, we have reinforced that emergency measures must be in place, particularly from a medical standpoint,” he added.
He commended the quick response of the on-site medical team, including St. John Ambulance, for their prompt assistance to the collapsed official.
The official was taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital.
