KUCHING: A soldier participating in training exercises in a forest near Mile 5, Jalan Balak Multiplus, tragically lost his life this morning (Sept 23) after being shot by a hunter.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata confirmed the incident, stating that a report was filed with the Song police station at 5.57 am.
According to the report, the soldier was conducting training in the forest when he was struck by gunfire from a nearby hunter.
The victim was immediately transported to Kapit Hospital but was pronounced dead at 7.43 am while receiving medical treatment.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and are actively working to apprehend the suspect, who remains at large.
