14 gold medals for S’wak so far

KUCHING: Sarawak has secured 14 gold medals so far in various events at the 21st Para Malaysia Games (SUKMA) 2024.

Eight of the gold medals came from para athletics.

Among the winners were Andy Lau Sie Hui in the 1,500M men’s T12 event, Filemon Lirong Dionisus (100M men’s T11), Noshazwani Maisara Marzuki (100M women’s T37), Nur Farhani Kudus (100M women’s T46/T47), Richard Bada (men’s discus throw F41), Colorine Sijang (women’s discus throw F41), Mary Bada (women’s discus throw F40), and Chong Cheng Tat (men’s shot put F34).

Meanwhile, Sarawak para swimmers also contributed five gold medals in the para swimming event.

Donny Jaranding claimed two golds in the 100M men’s freestyle S13 and 100M men’s backstroke S13.

While, Fraidden Dawan won gold in both the100M men’s breaststroke SB9 and 100M men’s backstroke S10.

Another gold was contributed by the team in the 4x100M men’s freestyle 34 points relay.

In the para ping pong event, Chow Mei Hsia secured gold in the women’s wheelchair singles open.

As of 6.35 pm, Sarawak led the medal tally with 14 gold, 10 silver, and 11 bronze medals.
