BINTULU: Construction of the 1.2-km Bintulu-Jepak Bridge is projected to be fully completed by February next year.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the completion of bridge will significantly ease public transportation from the city centre to Jepak and eventually to Bintulu Airport and other nearby regions.
He also said that the project will realise the aspirations of the Sarawak government, particularly for the residents of Bintulu, who have been anticipating the bridge’s construction for a long time.
“This clearly demonstrates the government’s commitment to carrying out development projects that can positively bring progress in the state, as evidenced today,” he told a press conference following his working visit to the construction site of the Bintulu-Jepak Bridge recently.
The Infrastructure and Port Development Minister also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the contractors for their dedication and hard work in ensuring the completion of the project, despite initial delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
During the visit, he listened to updates from the contractors, confirming that the building process is on track and proceeding as scheduled.
