SIBU: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Community Development Team showed compassion with the victims of the recent fire incident at Kampung Hilir by extending generous contributions to the fire victims today (Sept 24).

Councillor Kevin Lau Kor Jie, the team leader of the group said the contribution included rice, biscuits, noodles and clothing.

“Although we are from Bawang Assan, we do care for the Malay communities in Kampung Hilir whose life has been badly affected by the fire, and I hope that they will continue to stay strong.

He added that their small contribution could at least ease the victim’s burden and unwanted pressure that they are experiencing, to get ahead in daily chores and restart their life.

For the record, over 130 people lost their homes after fire destroyed more than 10 houses on Sunday evening.
