Cop severely injured in motorcycle-car crash

KUCHING: A policeman sustained serious injuries following a two-vehicle collision along Jalan Stutong this morning (Sept 24).

Kuching police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah, when contacted, confirmed that the accident involved a motorcycle and a Perodua Myvi.

“The victim, attached to the Padawan District Police Headquarters (IPD), suffered a broken right arm, a broken right leg, and a chin fracture.

“He is currently receiving treatment at Sarawak General Hospital,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Myvi driver has been detained to assist with investigation under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

According to sources, the accident was believed to have occurred around 7 am.

The motorcycle, ridden by the victim in his late 20s, collided with the Myvi, driven by a man in his 60s, which was turning right into Kampung Stampin.
