SIBU: The Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) is organising a recycling event starting Sept 24 to 28.

The programme, in collaboration with the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) of Bukit Lima, Belatok, and Sentosa, is being organised in conjunction with Hari Cuci Malaysia (Malaysia Cleanup Day).

A spokesperson from SMC, Councillor Dr Johnny Kieh, said that the programme will run from 1 pm to 4 pm.

“We will collect papers, plastic bottles, used cooking oil, and other recyclable items during the collection time.

“So, I urge all residents to send their recyclable items to the collection centre,” he said during a press conference at the SMC meeting room yesterday (Sept 24).

He hopes that residents from those areas will take the opportunity to participate in this Malaysia Cleanup Day event.
