KUCHING: Para Sukma Gold Medalist Bibiana Ahmad, 34, aims to participate in more powerlifting competitions in the future to improve herself further.
She said this after receiving the gold medal for the Para Powerlifting event (61kg and above) at the Para Sukma XXI held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Youth and Sports Department here on Wednesday (Sept 25).
Even after breaking the previous record—84kg held by Sona Angon from Kedah—Bibiana vows to continue to train harder than ever before.
“I’m thankful that I could achieve it (gold medal), as I trained for a very long time.
“There is this one competition next year in Dubai that I would like to participate in.
“Even after the Para Sukma and other competitions, I will continue to keep training harder and harder,” she added.
Meanwhile, Johannes Gabriel Chew, 17, said that this is the second time he participated in the Para Sukma.
“I am satisfied with what I have achieved as the last time I participated in 2022, I was not able to secure any medal.
“The achievement is all thanks to months of training that I did,” he added.
As for the future, Johannes said that should there be any games available, he is willing to partake in it as well.
“I will continue to prepare myself for any big games next year and more,” he added.
Earlier, Bibiana obtained the two gold for best lift and top lift, lifting 95kg, while Johannes managed to obtain the two gold, lifting 91kg in the 49kg also for best lift and top lift.
