KUCHING: The construction of a new RM16.5 million four-storey building for St Joseph’s Private Schools will officially begin after the ground-breaking and site blessing ceremony on Thursday.

Located on a site between Joseph’s Private Primary and Secondary Schools, at Jalan Nagor, the building will serve both institutions.

“It will feature a multipurpose hall the size of three badminton courts, an expanded state-of-the-art library and resource centre, a spacious dining area, a music room and dance studio, science labs, a green courtyard with smart learning spaces, and sub-level parking for staff,” said a media release today.

Catholic Archbishop of Kuching, Simon Poh, officiated at the ceremony. He was joined by St Joseph’s Private Schools’ chief executive officer Christopher Chua, acting principal of St Joseph’s Private Secondary School, Fr Stanley Goh, and headmistress of St Joseph’s Private Primary School, Shirley Chong.

In his speech, Poh highlighted the vital role education played in nation-building and development.

“These new learning spaces will support this mission, providing a strong foundation for a new generation of students shaped in the tradition of St Joseph,” he said.
