MIRI: A total of 330 residents from Rh Niga Sungai Tinjar have been left homeless after a fire ravaged their 46-door longhouse yesterday (Sept 27).
According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), firefighters from the Lopeng fire station responded to an emergency call received around 12.17pm.
“The 46-door longhouse was completely destroyed in the fire, while another block with 10 doors in front of it was saved,” it said.
No fatalities were reported, and only one female resident sustained minor injuries in the incident.
Once the situation was under control, overhaul work was carried out to ensure there was no risk of reignition.
After the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation.
The cause of the fire and the losses incurred are still under investigation.
