KUCHING: Sarawak’s para swimmers have secured a remarkable 41 medals over four days during the 21st Para Malaysia Games (SUKMA).

The state’s athletes, led by Fraidden Dawan, Rusdianto Rusmadi, Galang Jabai, and Mully Andriano, claimed 17 gold, 13 silver, and 11 bronze medals.

Assistant Chef de Mission (ACDM) Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu expressed her delight at the team’s performance, exceeding the initial target of 15 gold medals.

“This is a testament to the coaches’ dedication and the swimmers’ hard work,” she said.

“We’re incredibly proud of their achievements at the Pandela Renong Aquatic Centre.”

Jamilah also noted Sarawak’s advantage over Sabah, despite both states winning 17 gold medals.

Sarawak’s higher overall medal count was attributed to its stronger performance in silver medals.

She thanked the media for their consistent coverage of the swimming events.

Fraidden led the way with six gold medals, while Rusdianto and Galang each secured four golds and two silvers.
