PUSA: The Maludam Water Treatment Plant is set to be operational by the end of October, said Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi.

The RM25.4 million project, now in its final phase, will improve water supply to the Beladin area.

The Acute System plant, with a capacity of five million litres per day, will include new pipelines to the Spinang booster pump station, benefiting around 6,330 Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) customers.

“Maludam’s abundant water source makes it ideal for this plant, especially for supporting Beladin village,” said Julaihi during a visit to the plant on Saturday.

JBALB will also upgrade plants in Kaki Wong, Saratok, and Lubau, Betong, to supply water to the entire Betong Division.

Julaihi hoped that all areas would no longer face water issues, emphasising the need to replace old or deteriorating pipes.

Community Leaders and Village Chiefs (KMKK) are crucial in monitoring new pipe installations, said Julaihi.

“The Sarawak government is committed to providing good infrastructure and facilities for the people,” he added.

“The Premier is working hard to secure funding for Sarawak’s development, especially in the Batang Lupar area. Several bridges will be completed using Sarawak’s own funds.”

Julaihi also added that he would personally oversee projects under his ministry to ensure their smooth and efficient implementation.
