KAPIT: Staff of the Kapit District Public Works Department (PWD) have been urged to take delays in public infrastructure projects seriously, as they not only inconvenience the public but can also pose safety risks.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said that in today’s world of advanced and fast-paced communication, there are no valid excuses for ignorance when it comes to public grievances.

“In today’s modern communication era, there is no reason for us to claim we are unaware of the people’s problems.

“Complaints can now be made through various channels such as email, phone, WhatsApp, or even TikTok. Once it’s on TikTok, you really have to pay attention,” he said.

Nanta was speaking at a project completion ceremony for the Slope Repair Project at the Kapit district police headquarters today.

He also praised the contractor responsible for completing the project ahead of schedule.

“The project, costing RM1.409 million, was initiated after the slope in front of the Kapit District Police Headquarters quarters collapsed in March 2020 due to continuous heavy rain.

“The timely completion of this repair will serve as a catalyst for us to continue fulfilling the government’s mandate and aspirations — ensuring all projects are completed with quality and on time,” Nanta added.
