KUCHING: Dog owners here are called to bring their pets to a special event offering free anti-rabies vaccinations, dog licensing, microchipping, and subsidised neutering for female dogs this Saturday, October 5.

According to a Facebook post by Kuching South City Council (MBKS) the event will be held at the Dewan Persatuan Bola Keranjang Sarawak, Lorong 3, Taman Seng Goon which will run from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm.

“This initiative, aimed at controlling rabies and promoting responsible pet ownership, is organised by various local authorities and supported by the Sarawak government, with additional co-organisation from state agencies including MBKS and Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS).

“The subsidised neutering programme offers RM150 off for female dogs (licensed and vaccinated by MBKS), with a total of 100 subsidies available on a first-come, first-served basis.

“To ensure smooth participation, dog owners are advised to bring their ICs and vaccination cards (if applicable),” it said.

The council also urged pet owners to ensure their dogs meet the basic health requirements before attending, such as being healthy, over three months old, and not pregnant.

“Following vaccination, pet owners must observe post-care guidelines such as isolating their pets for 28 days and avoiding mixing vaccinated dogs with others.

“Pet owners also must ensure their dogs are vaccinated against rabies once a year,” it said.
