MIRI: A female crocodile guarding around 40 eggs was captured on Tuesday (Oct 1) at the Tawakal Suai oil palm plantation along the Miri-Bintulu Coastal Road, sparking concerns over the safety of workers and visitors in the area.

The crocodile was spotted near a ditch, where it was incubating its eggs.

Fearing for the safety of plantation workers, authorities initiated the capture to prevent any potential attacks.

The reptile, which was described as aggressive and dangerous, was caught using a rope trap.

After several attempts, workers successfully managed to secure the crocodile’s jaws and lifted it using heavy machinery to prevent any further risk.

A video of the incident, posted by local resident on a Facebook, has since gone viral, with many expressing their shock at the size and ferocity of the animal.

While the exact location where the crocodile has been relocated to remains unclear, the public and plantation workers are being urged to stay vigilant, especially near ditches and creeks, where such reptiles may be lurking.
