KUALA LUMPUR: Indonesian music group Govinda, set to hold their debut concert in Malaysia on Oct 31, promises a performance that will leave sweet memories for fans in Kuala Lumpur.
Their vocalist Muhammad Irfan Hadari said the positive reception from their Malaysian fans towards their songs like ‘Hal Hebat’ and ‘Masing-Masing’ was the main motivation for the group to hold an exclusive concert for fans here.
“We’ve long dreamed of performing here (in Malaysia), especially after receiving positive feedback from fans when we appeared at the ‘Aku Cinta Syamel Ernie Zakri Concert’ two years ago,” he said during a press conference here recently to announce their upcoming concert.
The ‘Govinda Hal Hebat @ Kuala Lumpur’ concert, organised by Adimusiqa, will take place at Zepp Kuala Lumpur and will also feature popular Indonesian and Malaysian singers Fadly Padi, Ernie Zakri, Aina Abdul and Elica Paujin.
On the participation of Ernie and Aina in their concert, Muhammad Irfan said his band is not riding on the popularity of these two Malaysian singers, instead, “we appreciate the (good) relationship and mutual support we share within the music industry”.
“When Ernie visited Indonesia, we and the Indonesian media welcomed her very warmly… we are proud to promote Ernie. At no point did we say that Ernie was riding on Govinda’s name in Indonesia because Ernie is also extraordinary and deserves to expand her career there.
“Likewise in Malaysia, there is no sense of us riding on any singer’s name because everyone has already made a name for themselves and are popular,” he said.
Meanwhile, the group’s guitarist Ade Nurulianto said the success of the song ‘Masing-Masing’ has motivated them to plan a collaboration with Ernie next year. The song, written by Ade, was not only well-received by fans but also boosted Ernie’s fame in Indonesia.
“Insya-Allah, Ernie will sing a new song composed by us. The song has already been recorded and is just waiting to be released,” he said.
At their Oct 31 concert, Govinda will perform about 18 hits including ‘Episode Bahagia’, ‘Tanpa Batas Waktu’, ‘Masing-Masing’, ‘Hal Hebat’ and ‘Siapa Yang Pantas’.
“We promise there will be surprises and something different, especially in the musical arrangements which, we believe, will be Govinda’s best achievement,” he added. – BERNAMA
