KUCHING: The Kuching International Airport (KIA) will carry out a comprehensive Aerodrome Emergency Exercise (AEX) today, starting at 7 pm.
According to an official poster on the Malaysia Airports Holdings’ Facebook page, all safety precautions have been meticulously planned to ensure smooth operations throughout the exercise.
The public has been reassured that any unusual activities or setups witnessed around the airport are part of the drill, and there is no cause for alarm.
This large-scale exercise is designed to assess the efficiency of command, communication, and coordination among various agencies in responding to an aircraft emergency, in line with the Kuching International Airport Aerodrome Emergency Plan (KIA AEP).
The AEX includes several components, such as an air disaster seminar, a review of the airport’s emergency plan, a tabletop exercise, and a full-scale exercise.
