Major road closures in Miri – Bintulu for Le Tour de Langkawi 2024

MIRI: Members of the public are advised to take note of temporary road closures and diversions between Miri and Bintulu this Saturday (Oct 5), due to the Petronas Le Tour de Langkawi (LTDL) 2024 Stage 7 international cycling race.

The race, spanning 199.3km, will feature 22 teams and a total of 132 riders.

Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the race will start at Miri Waterfront and finish at Lasar Kenyalang in Bintulu.

To ensure smooth and safe proceedings, the police will oversee safety and traffic control measures.

Several roads in Miri City and the coastal road to Bintulu will be closed and diverted in stages from 5.30 am until the race concludes.

The affected roads are:

  • Jalan Sungai Baong
  • Jalan Permaisuri junction
  • Sehati traffic light
  • Sehati roundabout
  • Parkson traffic light
  • Grand Old Lady (GOL) junction
  • Puchong roundabout
  • Jalan Hainam junction
  • Jalan Cahaya junction
  • Hilltop traffic light
  • Public parking areas in front of Pullman Miri Waterfront
  • Public parking areas near Imperial Palace Hotel
  • Coastal Road to Bintulu.

Alexson pointed out that the public should take note of these closures to plan alternative routes and avoid traffic congestion.

“The public is advised to exercise caution and adhere to traffic control signals directed by on-duty police officers.

“Those traveling to Bekenu and Batu Niah may use the Pan Borneo Road as an alternative route. Cooperation from all parties is important to ensure the smooth conduct of race,” he said.
