KUCHING: A section of a walkaway at SK Satria Jaya, Taman BDC here, collapsed this afternoon (Oct 3).
It was understood that several teachers had already placed hazard warning tape around the affected area to prevent any untoward incident.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they were alerted of the incident at 1.29 pm and dispatched firefighters from Tabuan Jaya station to assess the situation.
Upon arrival, they found that a 6×6-foot section of the walkway of a classroom building had collapsed, creating a hole about one metre deep.
In addition, there were also visible cracks in the school’s concrete drain.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this incident. The team only monitored the situation before returning to their station.
