KUCHING: Comprehensive training for auxiliary police is essential to enhance professionalism and competence, says Malaysian Police Training Centre (PULAPOL) Commandant Senior Assistant Commissioner Zulfikar Jeneral (B) Tan Sri Mohd Ghazali.
He said it is important to have continuous training, particularly in crisis management, including responding to security threats, fire incidents and public disturbances.
“The training not only equips them with technical skills and knowledge in security and law enforcement but also builds character, camaraderie, and integrity,” he said during the closing ceremony of the Fifth Series 2024 Auxiliary Police Basic Training Course at PULAPOL Kuching today.
Zulfikar expressed confidence that the auxiliary police are well-prepared to fulfill their duties with professionalism.
On the growing security challenges, Zulfikar highlighted the critical role of auxiliary police in ensuring public safety.
“Active community engagement through safety programmes, such as regular patrols, fosters a sense of security among local residents,” he said, adding that close cooperation with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in information sharing and law enforcement is crucial.
A total of 212 trainees from 18 agencies completed the two-month training course, which began in August 2024.
Top honors were awarded to Francisa Ganam (Best Academic Trainee), Feliecia Suyu (Best Outdoor Training Trainee), and Marcus Ridd (Best Overall Training Trainee).
Also present were Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department deputy head ACP Dasuki Che Driss, and Sarawak Management Department Staff Officer ACP James Jonathan.
