KUCHING: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg heads the list of 1,376 recipients of Sabah state awards in conjunction with the 71st birthday of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin tomorrow.
He receives the Seri Panglima Darjah Kinabalu (SPDK) award, which carries the title ‘Datuk Seri Panglima’.
Three others receiving the SPDK award are Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew Chin Jin, and businessman Datuk Kumar Prabakaran.
For the Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (PGDK) award, 87 recipients will carry the title ‘Datuk’.
Among those receiving the PGDK award are journalists Chiew Nai Wen (Borneo Post Sabah chief editor) and Phillip Golingai (The Star senior news editor).
The 10 recipients of the Justice of Peace Award are Bakri @ Norzaidi Ali Omar, Datuk Ewon Benedick, Datuk Guan Ka Hock, Datuk Seri Panglima Joachim Gunsalam, Juddy Chu Yen Tien, Datuk Kasim Mansor, Koh Siew Boon, Datuk Liew Kim Choong, Yee Tsai Yiew and
Zakaria Mohd. Edri.
Other awards, namely the Ahli Setia Darjah Kinabalu, will be awarded to 116 recipients, Ahli Darjah Kinabalu (274), Bintang Kinabalu (421), Bintang Setia Kinabalu (320) and Certificate of Honour (144).
