MIRI: A daring rescue operation by the Tiger Platoon of the Sarawak General Operation Force (GOF) today (Oct 5) successfully extracted an injured pilot from the dense jungle of the Lambir area.
The operation, part of a planned exercise drill, involved nine members of the Tiger Platoon.
The team was airlifted to the site by an AW139 helicopter and navigated the rugged terrain swiftly.
The area, notorious for its dense vegetation, posed numerous challenges, including resistance from some anti-government residents who attempted to obstruct the mission.
Despite these obstacles, the platoon successfully removed the injured pilot from the crash site.
The simulated crash had occurred earlier during the exercise as part of a larger training session designed to test the team’s rescue capabilities in challenging conditions.
The rescue drill coincided with the closing ceremony of the Search and Rescue (SAR) Internal Security and Public Order Department (KDNKA) course at the 12th Battalion GOF base.
Sarawak GOF Commander SAC Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang was present to witness the exercise and commended the Tiger Platoon for their professionalism and swift execution of the mission.
