SIBU: The establishment of the Youth Wing of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) is seen as an ‘internship’ for younger party members to be trained as future leaders.
PBB President Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said PBB achieved another historical milestone with the launch of its new youth wing, catering to individuals aged 18 to 28.
“So, today is a historic day where PBB, under its leadership, welcomes the youth, and we hope that this youth programme is like an internship in every corporate body.
“This internship allows them to learn and eventually contribute to the future,” he said at a press conference held after the launch of the PBB Youth Wing here today (6 Oct).
He added that this initiative would also enable Sarawak to be better managed and governed by capable youth, especially those who can master technology and utilise available resources, in line with the new economy.
“If there are resources but the leadership is inadequate, we will also fail. Both must go hand in hand. This is why PBB is keen to train young people so they can adopt the right approach in our politics.
“With expertise in their respective fields, which can enhance our economy, if these two factors align, the third factor, technology and resources, can also be synchronised and managed properly,” he stressed.
He also described politics as just one channel for serving, though there are many other ways to contribute outside of politics.
Also present were PBB Deputy President Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, PBB Senior Vice President Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, PBB Vice-President Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, and PBB elected exco member Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.
