BINTULU: Five local men were injured in a two-vehicle collision along Jalan Saberkas, Bintulu-Samalaju last night (Oct 6).

The accident, which happened at 8.44 pm, involved a Perodua Myvi carrying two men and a van carrying three others.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Kidurong station were dispatched to the scene, about 10km away, after receiving an emergency call.

The victims were found trapped in their seats and extrication works were conducted to free them from the wreckage.

The Myvi driver and passenger suffered severe injuries, while the van driver and his passengers sustained minor injuries.

The victims, aged between 24 and 35, were rushed to Bintulu Hospital for further medical treatment. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.
