KUCHING: Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has expressed hope that the budget allocation for sectors related to his ministry will increase in the upcoming 2025 Budget presentation.

He said the increased funding is necessary to ensure that development in sectors under his ministry can continue more effectively.

“Looking at the creative and cultural industries, they are important elements in the life of the community.

“We need music as entertainment, and also to preserve our diverse culture. Therefore, I hope that the allocated funds for this sector will be sufficient.

“However, I am not worried about the Sarawak Budget, as our leaders will certainly look after our ministry’s interests.”

Abdul Karim made these remarks during a press conference for the Borneo Jazz Festival here today (Oct 7).

Meanwhile, the 2025 Budget will be presented in the Dewan Rakyat on Oct 18 by Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
