MIRI: A nine-year-old girl sustained leg injuries in an accident involving a motorcycle on the Miri By-pass this afternoon (Oct 11).
The accident, which occurred at around 4.30 pm, left the girl with her foot trapped in the motorcycle’s chain.
The Lopeng Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) responded swiftly to the emergency. Upon arrival, rescue personnel found the girl with her foot still stuck in the motorcycle chain and cut the chain to free her using rescue tools.
The girl received immediate first aid from the department’s Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) team. She was then transported to the hospital by the Ministry of Health (KKM) medical team for further treatment.
The rescue operation was successfully completed by 4.55 pm after which the scene was declared safe, and the team returned to the station.
