KUCHING: The Padawan District Education Office (PPD Padawan) has been encouraged to set more ambitious targets, particularly in its Expected Target Result (ETR), following its impressive achievements in the SPM results last year.

Sarawak Education director Datuk Dr Azhar Ahmad said that for the first time, PPD Padawan surpassed the 4.65 score level for the District Average Grade (GPD), while a remarkable 91 per cent of students qualified for SPM certificates.

“This is a significant milestone that requires careful planning, effective strategies, and high commitment from all stakeholders, especially the students themselves,” Dr Azhar said in his speech at the 2023 PPD Padawan Excellent Service Award (APC) Ceremony at a hotel last night (Oct 13).

He added that consistency was needed in maintaining high standards as other PPDs were also striving to achieve top GPD scores and increase the percentage of students eligible for SPM certificates.

“Every student deserves to earn an SPM certificate after completing their 11-year education,” Dr Azhar added.

The PPD’s Learning Management System (LMS) has also played a crucial role in these achievements, with the pass rate surpassing 90 per cent for the first time last year.”The consistent im

provement in GPD since 2019, culminating in a record-high of 4.65 last year, is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students and teachers,” Dr Abang Adam said.
