KUCHING: A little Kampung Tupong girl named Mira Syarmiela fights a silent battle. At just ten years old, she grapples with diplegic cerebral palsy, a cruel condition that has stolen her ability to walk and speak.

Little Mira, as she is lovingly called, navigates the world with a walker, relying on tube feeding and battling respiratory struggles caused by the narrowing of her airways.

Her father, Saufie, a humble daily-wage painter, barely makes ends meet with his meagre earnings of approximately RM70 a day. Every trip to the hospital with Mira means missed work and lost wages, plunging the family deeper into a financial abyss.

Meanwhile, Mira’s mother, Mawar Mut, shoulders the weight of their home and the care of her precious daughter. Selling ABC and cendol from a small stall outside their humble abode, she tries to bridge the gap left by their strained finances, all while caring for Mira and her two siblings.

Despite the monthly aid from welfare programmes and assistance from various organisations, the shadow of financial struggle looms large over this family. Managing Mira’s intricate medical needs remains an uphill battle, draining them emotionally and financially.

Hope Place, a bright light in their darkened world, provides Mira with essentials like children’s diapers and specialised milk supplements. But the road ahead is long and arduous, with financial burdens weighing them down like an anchor.

Their story is one of resilience and love, but it’s also a plea for help. Your donations can make a world of difference in Mira’s life.
