KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi received a courtesy call from the main organising committee of the Waterfront Festival 2024 today.
Leading the delegation, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said that during the festival, the International Dragon Boat event will take place from Oct 25 to 27.
“Head of State Tun Wan Junaidi will be attending the International Dragon Boat Race on Oct 26 at the Kuching Waterfront, which will feature participants from 21 countries and 60 teams.
“As for the Sarawak Regatta, it will be held from Nov 1 to 3, and Wan Junaidi has been invited to officiate at the closing ceremony on Nov 3,” he said to reporters after the courtesy visit.
Abdul Karim, who is the minister-in-charge of the events, added Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will officiate at the opening ceremony of International Dragon Boat Race on Oct 26.
“Furthermore, Wan Junaidi has agreed to attend and officiate at the opening ceremony of the Sarawak Gendang Festival 2024 and the final of the Sarawak Malay Gendang Competition at the Kuching Waterfront on Nov 1 at 8 pm,” he said.
He added that throughout the festival various musical events, organised by the Sarawak Arts Council, will be held, along with handicraft sales and Sarawak Kitchen.
“The public, especially those around Kuching, are invited to attend and enliven the event,” he said.
