KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Economy is currently in the process of enhancing the Main Database System (PADU) by introducing two new mechanisms.
According to Deputy Minister of Economy, Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib, the approach of Basic Livelihood Expenditure (PAKW) and Net Disposable Income (NDI) will enable the government to improve policy formulation and socioeconomic programmes.
“The government has utilised PADU data to develop PAKW and NDI to optimise resource use.
“With these two new mechanisms, we can also minimise inclusion and exclusion errors,” she said during the question and answer session in Parliament today.
PADU is now in the final stage of Phase 2, which includes the integration of current data, target group analysis, and the formation of use cases.
The opening of the PADU system for public information updates under Phase 2 is still under consideration.
Meanwhile, the acceptance of the PADU system among the people of Sabah and Sarawak has reached a satisfactory level.
“Approximately 52.8 per cent or 920,078 residents of Sabah and 53.8 per cent or 1,071,796 residents of Sarawak have registered with PADU.
“The registration percentages for both states exceed the national average of 47.4 per cent, demonstrating the support from the people of Sabah and Sarawak for the government’s initiative to improve service delivery,” she added.
