KUCHING: The Sarawak government is aiming to bridge the communication gap between urban and rural areas.

Deputy Minister in Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol said communication must be implemented based on the state’s context, which is to address the needs of both urban and rural populations.

“Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has initiated various projects, namely the Sovereign Wealth Fund, the Development Bank of Sarawak (DBOS), among others.

“It is the role of UKAS and other ministries to disseminate information clearly and effectively on these projects and policies to the rakyat,” he said during the Making Connections 2024 dialogue session organised by UKAS here, on Wednesday (Oct 17).

On another note, Deputy State Secretary (Operation) Datuk Hii Chang Kee said rural and urban areas have varying levels of access to infrastructure.

“The mechanism used to bridge the information gap between urban and rural residents involves grassroots leaders.
