KUALA LUMPUR: The 15th edition of the Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak (LBAS) 2024 programme continues to serve as a vital platform for bringing together Sarawakians residing in West Malaysia, particularly students.

At the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Sarawak Tribune observed a large gathering of students who had started registering as early as 8am.

In interviews conducted with several students, many expressed their hopes of not only socialising with fellow Sarawakians but also exploring information and career opportunities during the event.

“My hope in coming here is to network and meet other people from Sarawak. I came with my friends. I found out about this programme from my friends and family, and they recommended that I join,” he said.

“I want to check out the Sarawak booths here to see how things are progressing and so on. This is my second time joining the programme, and the difference I see is that there are more new students (new intake) this year, making it livelier, and we can make more friends,” she said.

“I feel happy because I got the opportunity to join this programme. This is my second time attending, and my hope is to meet new friends and reconnect with old ones from secondary school and other universities. Unlike last year, this time we arrived earlier and didn’t have to rush, which is a good thing. It’s really a platform for us Sarawakians to meet,” she said.

“The reason I came here is because I want to explore career opportunities after graduation. I’m in my third year (at UUM) with one more year left. So, I hope I can find an internship through LBAS. Apart from that, I also hope to make new friends,” he said.
