MIRI: Construction of the long-awaited road connecting the villages of Tutoh to Marudi, Miri, Limbang, and Long Lama will begin in 2025.

Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring), Datuk Gerawat Gala, emphasised that the Sarawak government, under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), remains committed to fulfilling its promises to the people, even if it takes time.

“The GPS government has promised this road, and we will make good on that promise,” he said.

Gerawat was speaking during a dinner gathering hosted by the Persatuan Dicu Kitah, Long Terawan on Friday night here.

The road project, first announced by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, will provide crucial connectivity between the rural communities in the Tutoh area and key urban centres, boosting accessibility and economic opportunities for the region.

In addition to the road project, Gerawat updated the community on ongoing initiatives in Long Terawan, including a clean water supply plant and the reconstruction of Rumah Jambu.
