Kapit: Baleh assemblyman Nicholas Kudi has called for more sports facilities in the Kapit area to promote a more active lifestyle among the local community.
He said that hosting more sports events would bring people together and encourage youth participation.
“I aim to organise a sports carnival in the future to enliven the atmosphere and attract more athletes,” he said at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Kapit Football League Championship-Baleh Cup recently.
However, Nicholas noted that the current lack of sports facilities, such as football fields, badminton courts, and futsal arenas, hampers the organisation of various sporting activities.
The existing Kapit stadium also requires maintenance, with inadequate lighting posing a challenge for night events.
Nicholas suggested increasing the number of referees and officials to address the shortage in the area.
The football league competition saw the Maggi Team emerge victorious, followed by Katibas FT and Medic Club.
