SIMANGGANG: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) leadership is playing an important role in government to bring about development in the state.
This is in addition to working to restore Sarawak’s rights in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
In stating this SUPP president Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said party members are no less important in this effort.
“The leadership is highly dependent on the strength of the party at all levels,” he said.
“All members of SUPP should therefore play a role in ensuring strength and unity … starting from the grassroots level up to the highest leadership in order to walk together,” he said.
Dr Sim who is Deputy Premier said this during a short visit to the Simanggang Assemblyman Service Centre near here, yesterday.
He also explained the importance of the party’s role as a whole in the Sarawak development discourse spearheaded by the four parties that make up Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).
Deputy Talent Development Minister Datuk Francis Harden Hollis who is also Simanggang assemblyman thanked him for stopping by his service centre.
According to Harden, the visit is important in that it is a sign of support for SUPP members in the Simanggang Branch, Lingga Branch and Pantu Branch.
SUPP Secretary General Datuk Sebastian Ting, Youth leader Datuk Michael Tiang and Women leader Kho Teck Wan were also present.
