SIBU: The Sarawak State Library (Pusaka) will host the Archiving Today’s Knowledge Programme and Record for Tomorrow Accessibility and Browsing (AKRAB) Series 2 at Dewan Melayu Melanau from Oct 25 to 27, starting at 8am daily.
Nangka assemblyman Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, who is also the Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, will officiate the closing ceremony on the final day at 2pm.
According to Pusaka’s press release on Tuesday (Oct 22), AKRAB is an initiative by the library to preserve the history of villages that were relocated to new settlements in Sarawak as part of development projects.
The event also aims to safeguard historical treasures and information, particularly related to the villages involved in resettlement projects in Sibu.
“Various activities focused on raising awareness about the preservation and conservation of historical materials will be featured in the programme. In addition, an exhibition of restored items will be held,” the press release stated.
