KUCHING: Kuching city is one of the sought-after destinations for Malaysian travellers.

In a statement Traveloka said other top domestic choices are Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Kota Bharu and Penang.

It said during its 10.10 Travel Fest, travellers had looked up destinations that offer a variety of scenic landscapes, cultural experiences, and culinary delights.

Their top international choices were China, India, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.

It pointed out that the campaign this time around saw a 127 per cent surge in searches for flight and accommodation targeting year-end holidays.

It stated that with discounts of up to 50 per cent, the campaign empowered travellers to plan ahead, ensuring dream gateways are both affordable and well-prepared.

It added that beyond generating strong bookings, the campaign revealed key travel trends shaping consumer behaviour across the region, signalling travellers’ eagerness to make the most of year-end holidays and kickstart 2025 with meaningful experiences.

“By anticipating these trends and offering personalised platform solutions, we enable travellers to plan with confidence and explore new travel possibilities.

“This campaign has not only delivered exceptional value to travellers but has also reinforced our role in supporting tourism recovery and growth in the region,” he said.

The statement said the campaign sparked a wave of early bookings, with nearly 60 per cent of travellers securing international flights more than 30 days in advance.

“This trend highlights a growing preference for planning ahead to secure the best deals. With exclusive, time-limited discounts, this campaign inspired travellers to lock in their plans early, ensuring seamless and cost-effective getaways,” it said.

Aside from this, it said that the campaign saw an almost twofold increase in transactions for cruises, signalling a rising interest in unique, all-inclusive travel experiences.

It pointed out that the cruises are becoming an appealing option for year-end celebrations, offering travellers the chance to explore multiple destinations while enjoying the convenience and leisure of life at sea.

Throughout the campaign, it stated that the Southeast Asian travellers were increasingly seeking immersion stays that offer authentic cultural experiences.
