SARIKEI: Police have arrested a local man for alleged involvement in a series of burglaries across the district.

Sarikei police chief Supt Aswandy Anis said the the man was arrested by the roadside of Jalan Sentebu, Taman Susur Jambu at 5.30 pm on Monday (Oct 21).

Also seized from the 42-year-old suspect was a motorcycle, clothes and a set of keys allegedly used in the crimes.

“Preliminary investigations indicate the suspect is believed to be involved in seven burglary cases between July and October this year.

“Background checks revealed that the suspect had three prior records for break-ins and criminal trespassing,” he said.

Aswandy added that the suspect, who tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, will be remanded to facilitate investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 380 and Section 457 of the Penal Code for theft and buglary.
