SERIAN: A local man died on the spot after his motorcycle skidded and crashed into a road divider along KM50, Jalan Kuching-Serian today (Oct 23).
Serian police chief DSP Neil Beginda, when contacted, confirmed that the accident happened at around 10 am while the victim was returning home from work.
“Investigations found that the victim lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a road divider.
“The impact caused him to be thrown off his motorcycle and hit a lamp post before being crushed by his own motorcycle,” he said.
As a result, the victim, identified as Cornelius Alvin Elban, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics due to severe head and arm injuries.
His body was later taken to Serian Hospital for post-mortem procedures.
Neil stated that the victim had just started working at an electronic factory in Sama Jaya Free Industrial Zone for about three months.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
