BINTULU: A security guard died from severe injuries following a fatal two-vehicle collision at Jalan Simpang Empat Kawasan Perindustrian Samalaju on Wednesday (Oct 23).

Bintulu police chief Supt Nixon Joshua Ali said that the accident, involving a motorcycle and a bus, happened at 6.40am.

The bus, operated by Bintang Jaya Express and carrying 20 passengers and OCIM Factory workers, was traveling from Jalan Saberkas Bintulu towards OCIM Factory Samalaju.

At the four-way intersection near MDS Supermarket, the bus collided with the motorcycle ridden by the victim, who was en route from the Eco Park Samalaju quarters to his workplace at SGC OCIM Khomo.

“As a result, the 20-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics due to injuries sustained.

“Meanwhile, the bus driver and passengers were unharmed in the accident,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Supt Nixon advised the public not to speculate or spread false information as it may cause annoyance to the community.
